Full or PAYG licence

For SMS messaging only, choose a PAYG licence. This is FREE to install and set up – we even give you some FREE SMS credits to try it out with!

The Full licence gives you extra functions; email with attachments, automated attendance messaging and reduced cost SMS credits.

Costs less than three stamps per year.

A Schoolcomms Full licence costs less than the price of three stamps per pupil per annum! Emails have no extra cost.

From only 6p per text.

Text messages can be sent to groups of parents or school members at the touch of a button for only 6p each.

Caters for those without email or mobile.

It is essential that families that do not have email or a mobile phone are included.

A distribution list of people who have not registered for email or text messages is generated when each Schoolcomms message is sent. This means that paper copies of messages need only be distributed to those that need them.

The distribution lists are ordered by registration group for easy distribution via 'pupil post'. Alternatively the list can be saved with addresses and telephone numbers from SIMS for mail merge or manual phone contact.

This reduces printing, postage, telephone and paper costs, and administration time.

Easy to use Unexplained Absence Management.

Links to SIMS Attendance to read unexplained absences. Choose from SMS or email to contact parents promptly, saving hours of phoning. Parents can reply by SMS, email or phone and the relevant mark automatically written to SIMS.

How does it work?

Schoolcomms is easy to install and simple to use.

  • Schoolcomms is downloaded and installed from the web site using a simple wizard.
  • An internet connection is required.
  • Student and staff names, and all registration and teaching groups are automatically imported from SIMS or other MIS.
  • Schools can choose either to invite parents to register through the web site, or to import the contact details already held in the SIMS database.
  • Click on the 'Run import' button after selecting your settings; students, staff and family contacts, email and mobile number. The contact details are imported for the selected groups automatically. In a few minutes the school can start sending messages!
  • Email and mobile details can be regularly updated directly from SIMS at the click of the button, saving any duplication of data entry, whilst always keeping your data in sync with SIMS.
  • The school can define any extra distribution groups it needs using the easy search and select tool. Remember that all the SIMS groups, including user defined Groups are already there and up to date.
  • Use Templates to create a house style and save time on layout and frequently used messages.
  • Email and text messages are composed and sent directly from your computer to selected individuals or groups. Letters can be printed only for those that need a paper copy.
  • The list of the few needing paper includes address details or phone numbers from SIMS. This makes it easy to use mail merge for post, phone or pupil post as required.
  • Emails can include attached documents, pictures and hyperlinks.
  • The status of messages is shown on the Sent items to check the successful dispatch or delivery.
  • Unexplained absence data can be imported from SIMS as soon as the registers have been completed. The user can choose to SMS or email each parent asking them to explain their child’s absence. Parents’ phone numbers are displayed for easy calling of those not registered with Schoolcomms.
  • Family contacts can reply by email, SMS or phone. The messages are displayed on screen or logged. The appropriate mark can be entered for automatic write back to SIMS, streamlining the processing.
  • The parent response is shown in the comment box in SIMS so that all teachers can see the reason for absence at a glance.
  • Unexplained absences over a period can be followed up by email or SMS, encouraging parents to provide explanations.
  • For SIMS users, a ‘quick email’ or ‘quick SMS’ can be sent directly from the student details screen in SIMS .net.
  • The multi-user licence enables more staff to communicate directly with pupils and parents, receiving responses to their own email inbox.
